How do I prepare verb tables that always pass logo?

Developing pin configuration verb tables is often a team effort because a single individual rarely has all the skills needed to prepare and incorporate verb tables into the system. All of the following skills are needed to develop and manage pin configurations and verb tables in a consistent manner:

  • Marketing
  • Audio Architect
  • BIOS engineer
  • Program/Project Manager
  • Design Manager
  • Audio electronics design and layout engineers
  • Mechanical and Industrial design engineers
  • Audio software specialist
  • Audio test team

Green 3.5mm Line out Chassis jack Rear Panel 0x0 - True 1 0
Orange 3.5mm Line out Chassis jack Rear Panel 0x0 - True 1 1
Black 3.5mm Line out Chassis jack Rear Panel 0x0 - True 1 2
Grey 3.5mm Line out Chassis jack Rear Panel 0x0 - True 1 4

It's often unclear who on the team, other than the design manager or the project manager, has responsibility for getting the pin configurations generated, tested, and integrated into the BIOS. Most system design work flows do not account for the pin configuration development, even though it is required for Vista. Often just getting the verb table inserted into the BIOS takes 2 to 3 weeks, or more if late in a project where the BIOS is already locked down.

There are many new considerations to take into account for Windows Vista, especially if you are using a 3rd party audio driver in addition to the UAA HD Audio class driver.
